Beef Osso Bucco (in the Oven)

For tender and flavorful beef osso buco, you will need: beef shanks, carrots, onions, celery, tomato paste, fresh herbs, dry red wine and beef broth.

Season the beef shanks generously with salt and pepper. Brown each side in a large Dutch oven in batches. Set them aside on a plate.

Add the chopped veggies to the pot and cook for 5 minutes to soften. Add the garlic, tomato paste, herbs, salt and pepper.

Pour in the red wine and beef broth. Add the shanks back to the pot and bring the liquid to a simmer.

Cover the Dutch oven with the lid and transfer it to the oven to cook for 2-1/2 to 3 hours or until the meat easily falls off the bone.

Serve the beef ossobucco over low-carb cauliflower mash or your favorite base. Top it with the braising liquid and vegetables.
