It doesn’t take a whole lot to make a delicious, fixed-up cup of coffee, and this recipe is proof!
Like a lot of people, coffee is my best friend in the morning — it's warm, comforting, and part of the morning routine that I look forward to.
But if you're following a keto or low-carb lifestyle, and you want something more than just plain black coffee, finding ways to make coffee tasty and satisfying without adding loads of sugar or carbs can feel like a challenge.
My keto coffee recipe with heavy cream might seem pretty basic, but it’s a great “starter” recipe for anyone looking to move away from high-sugar, unhealthy coffee creamers and transition to a whole-foods approach to their morning cup of joe.

why this recipe works
While I love stopping by my local coffee shop occasionally, many of the drink options are loaded with sugar and processed ingredients.
These 15 Low-Carb Low-Sugar Drinks at Starbucks are a great guide for staying on track when you're out and about, but I have found that it's just so much easier to make keto coffee at home.
Especially when you have good coffee beans and a really great coffeemaker (I'm a big fan of the Moccamaster!).
With this creamy coffee drink, I know exactly what's in my cup and can adjust the ingredients to fit my specific dietary needs.
Plus, it's made with the most basic ingredients, so I can whip it up at home without any extra fuss.
You have the option to keep it pretty plain — using hot coffee, heavy cream, and your favorite sugar-free sweetener.
Or, make my delicious homemade vanilla creamer made with liquid allulose or powdered monk fruit sweetener and a splash of vanilla to make your coffee taste more like a vanilla latte!
You can make iced coffee, cold brew coffee, or bulletproof keto coffee with this recipe, too.
It really is the best keto coffee recipe, and it'll make the perfect addition to a ketogenic diet. Healthy fats and mental clarity for the win!
My keto coffee recipe with heavy cream is:
- A great option if you enjoy coffee that's creamy and lightly sweetened.
- Super rich, frothy, and silky-smooth.
- Excellent for coffee lovers who want to incorporate more whole foods and reduce sugar intake.
- Super versatile and customizable to fit your favorite coffee style.
simple ingredients required
- Strong brewed coffee. You'll need about 8-12 ounces of strong black coffee for this recipe. The best coffee begins with the best beans, grind, and brewing process.
- Heavy cream. This gives the coffee its rich and creamy texture. If heavy cream is too rich for you, you can always swap it out for half 'n half.
- Sweetener of choice. My go-to sweeteners for coffee are liquid allulose, stevia or monk fruit drops, and granulated monk fruit sweetener with allulose.
delicious add-ins
Spices: Add a pinch of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice for a warm and cozy flavored coffee.
Extracts: Use extracts like almond, coconut, or peppermint for a subtle flavor boost.
a delicious keto coffee recipe
A velvety-soft swirl of cream is the perfect complement to a strong cup of coffee! Here's how to make this delicious keto coffee with heavy cream:
- Start by brewing a pot of fresh coffee and pour an 8-12 ounce serving into a coffee mug.
- Next, add 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream or whipping cream, depending on how creamy you prefer your coffee.
- Stir in the sweetener and taste, adding more as needed. Use a milk frother to blend and give the coffee a frothy layer on top, or blend it for a few seconds in a bullet blender.
tips for best results
- If you don't have a milk frother or bullet blender, you can also froth the coffee in a large glass mason jar with an immersion blender.
- If you want a “bulletproof coffee" recipe, replace the heavy whipping cream with 1 tablespoon MCT oil (or coconut oil) and 1 tablespoon grass-fed, unsalted butter. Blend in a small blender (a milk frother doesn’t work well enough for this) or use an immersion blender. Keto butter coffee might not sound appealing, but I promise, it tastes delicious and is a great way to get extra healthy fats in!
- If you are not a fan of the heaviness of whipping cream, you can thin it down with a splash of unsweetened almond milk or use half n' half instead. Other alternatives include full-fat coconut milk or macadamia milk.
- For the best results, start with the best brewed cup of coffee. If you're a big fan of coffee, you most likely already know this! I don't recommend instant coffee (and not really a fan of keurig cups either). Fresh-ground beans and a great coffee maker are all you need, with a few simple add-ins.
make your own keto coffee creamer
Want to make a large batch of creamer to use throughout the week? Here’s a simple recipe to make your own keto coffee creamer:
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (optional)
- ¼-⅓ cup liquid allulose (like Rx Sugar) or powdered monk fruit sweetener
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Dash of salt
Instructions
In a mason jar, combine all of the ingredients. Shake well and store in the fridge, covered, for up to a week.
Pro tip: The sweetener might seem like a lot, but remember that allulose is not quite as sweet as sugar. The creamer will also taste extra sweet on its own but will balance out when mixed with coffee.
storage directions
This keto coffee creamer recipe can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
I recommend pouring it into an airtight container like a mason jar or plastic bottle with a lid.
Give it a good shake before using it again, and enjoy your creamy and sweet keto coffee all week long.

Keto Coffee Recipe with Heavy Cream
This keto coffee recipe calls for just a few simple ingredients and makes a creamy, frothy, delicious cup of coffee that is free of added sugar and preservatives.
Prepare one serving or follow my easy keto coffee creamer recipe to make a large batch to enjoy all week long.
Ingredients
single serving
- 8-12 ounces strong brewed coffee
- 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Sweetener of choice (liquid allulose, stevia or monk fruit drops, granulated monk fruit sweetener with allulose), add to taste
- dash of cinnamon (optional)
large batch of keto vanilla creamer
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (optional)
- ¼-⅓ cup liquid allulose (like Rx Sugar) or powdered monk fruit sweetener
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Dash of salt
- dash of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- For a single serving: Brew a pot of fresh coffee and pour 8-12 ounces into a mug.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream, depending on how creamy you prefer your coffee.
- Stir in the sweetener and taste. Add more as needed. For the best results: Use a milk frother to gently blend the coffee and creamer in the cup. I’ve also blended this in a bullet blender which will give you an extra creamy, frothy cup of coffee. Top with a dash of cinnamon, if desired.
- For a large batch of creamer: In a mason jar, combine all of the ingredients. Shake well and store in the fridge, covered, for up to a week. Use as needed, pouring 1-2 tablespoons into hot or chilled coffee.
Notes
- If you want a “bulletproof coffee” version of this, replace the heavy cream with 1 tablespoon MCT oil and 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter. Blend in a small blender (a milk frother doesn’t work well enough for this) or with an immersion blender.
- If you are not a fan of the heaviness of whipping cream, you can thin it down with a splash of unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk or macadamia milk. You can also substitute it for half n half.
- Add other flavor add-ins as desired, e.g. a dash of cinnamon or cardamom, or substitute the liquid allulose for a maple syrup substitute.
