easy mascarpone fruit dip
When I'm craving a sweet snack or need to whip up a quick appetizer for a party, this mascarpone dip is a wonderful go-to recipe.
Dips are so great for quick satisfaction. I have this mascarpone dip on rotation along with my Bruschetta Dip with Whipped Ricotta, Savory Whipped Cottage Cheese Dip, and Keto Spinach Dip. They are all crowd-pleasers and a breeze to make!
Mascarpone is most often used to make a sweet dip. The soft Italian cheese is light yet rich (like cream cheese) and can be enjoyed in all sorts of ways.
It would make a wonderful addition to any cheese or fruit platter, but you could easily enjoy it as a sweet snack whenever you crave something creamy and delicious!
why this recipe works
There are so many ways to make a mascarpone dip for fruit, and my version is a healthy, low-carb recipe. I swapped traditional sugar with liquid allulose, for a low-glycemic dip that doesn't end up gritty.
Cottage cheese or ricotta cheese lighten up the texture, and you can even add a couple of tablespoons of heavy cream to make it fluffier.
Fold in chopped dark chocolate and a splash of vanilla extract and you'll have yourself a creamy mascarpone dip reminiscent of the filling in a cannoli!
It's rich, luscious, and light, making it perfect for dipping all sorts of fruits, cookies, and low-carb crackers.
My mascarpone dip is:
- A gluten-free and keto-friendly option for a sweet dip
- Made with all-natural ingredients
- Quick and easy to make with minimal prep time
- A versatile dip that can be enjoyed with different fruits or cookies.
ingredients for mascarpone cheese dip
Simple ingredients and a short ingredient list are always welcome, and this dip is made with just that! Here's a look at what you'll need:
- Fresh mascarpone cheese. The main ingredient and star of this dip. This creamy, mild Italian cheese is the perfect base for a sweet dip. Make sure it's softened so that it will whip easily in your food processor.
- Liquid allulose. This liquid sweetener adds just a little sweetness without any carbs or added sugars. You can find this sweetener in most grocery stores, but I'll also include substitution options in the recipe notes.
- Cottage cheese or ricotta. Either of these options work! Since we're making this in the food processor, cottage cheese and ricotta will become perfectly smooth.
- Vanilla extract. A splash of vanilla adds a sweet yet subtle flavor.
- Dark chocolate. Chopped dark chocolate makes this an extra indulgent mascarpone dip that will remind you of the filling in an Italian cannoli.
recipe variations
- Top with fresh pomegranate arils if they're in season.
- Toss in dried fruit (preferably unsweetened).
- Add in more ricotta to make a more authentic keto cannoli dip.

tips for the best results
- Whipping mascarpone: Mascarpone has a higher fat content than cream cheese, about 60-75% fat. This means that you can over-whip mascarpone and see it start to separate. For this reason, I start by processing the cottage cheese by itself so it becomes smooth, then add in the mascarpone. Making sure that each ingredient is at room temperature (and not different temperatures) will ensure they combine smoothly.
- Sweetener substitutions: Since this is a sweet dip served cold, I like using a liquid sweetener so I don't have to worry about a granulated sweetener dissolving. If desired, you can substitute liquid allulose with a powdered monk fruit sweetener, 2-3 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, which will add extra grams of sugar. I don’t recommend a regular granulated monkfruit sweetener because it will leave you with a gritty texture.
- Dark chocolate: I like HuKitchen dark chocolate but you can use your own favorite chocolate chip option. Choose sugar-free or low sugar if you need this to be low-carb or keto-friendly.
storage
Store any leftover dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, make sure that you allow 15-30 minutes for the dip to soften.
