I love meatballs. They’re fun and versatile, delicious served Italian-style, nestled into a tomato sauce (like my keto meatball recipe). You also can't go wrong with these Greek-inspired air fryer chicken meatballs served with a creamy tzatziki sauce.
Meatballs also happen to be the perfect little finger foods. They’re great for dipping and okay by kids, too (at least my kiddos have never met a meatball they didn’t like!).
These turkey meatballs make a great appetizer on their own or a satisfying dinner when served over your favorite low-carb base, like zucchini noodles or my keto coconut cauliflower rice.
It takes only 30 minutes from start to finish, making it a warm and comforting weeknight meal after a busy day.

why this recipe works
I'm constantly looking for ways to simplify that low-carb lifestyle, and meatballs have always been one of those quick and easy recipes to have up your sleeve.
They're tasty and satisfying and can be incorporated into so many different types of dishes.
But, when it comes to making them keto-friendly, the usual flour fillers and breadcrumbs that help bind traditional meatballs are a no-go.
Almond flour happens to be the perfect substitute for breadcrumbs in this instance. It's low in carbs, easy to work with, and gives these meatballs an amazing texture.
Now let's talk about that creamy curry sauce. It takes these meatballs to a whole new level!
The flavors of the red curry paste, ginger, and garlic all blend together so perfectly with the coconut cream. I added monkfruit sweetener instead of sugar, to give it a little sweetness without extra carbs.
This low carb meatball recipe is great for meal prep and easy to prepare in advance, making it perfect for busy weeknights or when you're serving a crowd.
You can make a batch of the meatballs ahead of time and freeze them for extra dinner prep ease.

main ingredients
Here's a look at the simple ingredients you'll need to make these tasty turkey meatballs!
(Note: these are only the main ingredients for the recipe. To get the full list of ingredients and their measurements, please scroll down to view the recipe card!)
- Lean ground turkey meat. I used lean organic ground turkey which makes these a healthier meatball option.
- Almond flour. A staple in keto baking, almond flour works perfectly as a breadcrumb alternative. It's low in carbs and gluten free!
- Parmesan cheese. This adds a ton of flavor to the meatballs and helps with binding as well. Just omit if you're dairy-free.
- Egg. Helps the ingredients in the meatballs bind together.
- Red curry paste. Adds just the right amount of heat and spice to this dish. Use a bit more if you want a spicier curry. Or, swap in green curry paste if you prefer it.
- Chopped green onion. Adds freshness and a pop of color to the turkey meatballs. Chopped cilantro or basil works well, too!
- Aromatics. Chopped onion, bell pepper, ginger and garlic add big flavor to the creamy red curry sauce.
- Full-fat coconut milk. Make sure to use canned coconut milk (not the carton kind). I like the Thai Kitchen brand, as it's thick and creamy.
- Monk fruit sweetener. A sugar substitute that adds a touch of sweetness without any added carbs or calories. I like Lakanto's Golden monk fruit (affiliate link) but feel free to use your own sweetener of choice!
- Fish sauce. This is optional, but I like to add a little bit for extra flavor and depth.

Combine ground turkey with all of the meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
Heat a large, non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add avocado oil, then use a small cookie scoop to scoop out the meat balls and place them in the skillet.
Pro tip: I like to make sure it’s a heaping scoop, about 1-½ tablespoons in size.
Cook the meatballs for about 2-3 minutes per side, turning to cook them evenly. When done, transfer to a plate.
In the same skillet, add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat. Then add the minced garlic, ginger, and red curry paste. Stir and cook for 30 seconds.
Add the rest of the curry sauce ingredients, taste and adjust the sauce as needed. Bring the sauce to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to medium-low and let the curry simmer for about 5 minutes.
Add the meatballs to the sauce and stir to coat them. Serve them immediately with a base or side of choice (or on their own!), garnished with extra fresh basil, cilantro, or more green onion.
tips for the best results
- Feel free to use your favorite medley of low-carb vegetables. Bell pepper, bok choy, zucchini, cauliflower florets, etc. Let the meatballs simmer until the veggies are tender.
- For extra convenience, prepare these keto turkey meatballs in advance and freeze them for last-minute meals or meal prep.
- If you’re not too keen on frying the meatballs, you can bake them on a sheet pan instead! See the recipe notes for oven instructions. You could also use the air fryer and follow my cooking instructions in this air fryer chicken meatball recipe.
- Make sure to cook the meatballs until the internal temperature reaches 165°F when measured with an instant read meat thermometer.
storing and making ahead
For easy meal prep, you can make these meatballs ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to three days before cooking. Or, you can freeze them uncooked and cook them at a later time.
Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days, or freeze them for up to three months.

Keto Turkey Meatballs in Curry Sauce
Keto turkey meatballs are packed with aromatics and simmer in a creamy red curry sauce. This healthy, low-carb dinner is simple to make and ready in 30 minutes!
Ingredients
turkey meatballs
- 1-½ pounds ground turkey meat
- ½ cup almond flour
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons red curry paste
- ¼ cup green onion, chopped
- ¼ cup fresh basil or cilantro, chopped
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil (for cooking meatballs)
red curry sauce
- ½ cup diced onion
- 1 bell pepper, chopped or sliced thin
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- small nub of ginger, grated OR ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- 1-2 tablespoons red curry paste (use 2 if you want a spicier curry)
- 2, 14-oz. cans full-fat coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1-2 tablespoons granulated monk fruit sweetener (sweeten the curry to taste)
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce (optional)
- fresh green onions, basil or cilantro for serving
Instructions
- Add all of the meatball ingredients to a large bowl (except the avocado oil) and combine well.
- Heat a large, non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pour in the avocado oil. Use a cookie dough scoop to scoop out the meatballs (I like to make sure it’s a heaping scoop, about 1-½ tablespoons in size), and place them directly into the hot skillet to cook (you may need to do this in two batches or use two skillets to save time).
- Cook the meatballs for about 2-3 minutes per side, turning to cook them evenly. When done, transfer them to a plate. The internal temperature of the meatballs should be 165°F when checked with an instant read thermometer.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic, ginger and red curry paste. Stir and cook for 30 seconds.
- Pour in the coconut milk and lime juice. Add 1 tablespoon of the monk fruit sweetener, salt, and the fish sauce, if using. Stir well and taste the curry. Add more sweetener, if needed.
- Bring the sauce to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to medium-low and let the curry simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the meatballs to the sauce and stir to coat them. Serve them immediately with a base or side of choice (or on their own!), garnished with extra fresh basil, cilantro or more green onion.
Notes
- You can use your favorite sweetener of choice, just make sure to sweeten the curry to taste.
- To bake the meatballs instead of pan frying them: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Scoop out the meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a baking mat. Bake for about 13-15 minutes or until done.
- For a dairy-free version, omit the parmesan cheese in the meatballs.
- I used organic ground turkey but you could also try this with ground chicken.
- You can serve this dish on its own or spoon it over cauliflower rice, broccoli rice or your favorite low-carb rice.
